Seedance 2.5 Edit is billed per second of video at the video-input rate for the resolution you choose. An edit reads your source clip and writes a new clip of the same length, and both are billed: the seconds of output plus the seconds of source the model reads. The output always matches the source's length and aspect ratio, so an edit bills twice the clip's length.
billed seconds = 2 x source clip length
cost ≈ rate x billed seconds
Per-Second Rates (16:9)
| Resolution | Rate | 5 s clip (10 billed s) | 10 s clip (20 billed s) | 30 s clip (60 billed s) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 480p | $0.0637/s | $0.64 | $1.27 | $3.82 |
| 720p | $0.1429/s | $1.43 | $2.86 | $8.57 |
| 1080p | $0.3519/s | $3.52 | $7.04 | $21.11 |
The output takes the source's aspect ratio automatically. Other ratios price within about 1% of 16:9 at the same resolution, so the clip's shape is not a cost lever; resolution is.
Credit Holds vs. Your Final Charge
On request, Segmind holds credits sized for the longest edit this model accepts at your resolution, which can be well above the final price. On completion the hold settles at the actual cost and the difference returns to your balance right away. Reconcile against your balance after the request settles. Failed generations are not billed.
Important Notes
- The source clip is billed. A 5 s edit at 720p is 10 billed seconds ($1.43), not 5. This is the single most common source of a surprising bill.
- Length is fixed by the source: there is no duration field, so trim the clip to the section you need before sending it. A 4 s clip is the cheapest edit.
- Reference images and audio are free: they do not add billable seconds. Extra reference videos are not accepted on this endpoint.
- Audio is free: generating or editing the soundtrack does not change the price.
- Resolution is the main lever: 480p → 720p is about 2.2x per second, 720p → 1080p about 2.5x.
- Rates are close estimates: the final charge is computed from the exact amount of video processed and can differ from these figures by 1–2%.
Cost Optimization Tips
- Trim first, edit second: every second of source is billed twice (read and rewritten).
- Iterate at 480p, deliver at 720p or 1080p: a 5 s edit costs $0.64 at 480p against $3.52 at 1080p.
- Fix the seed: lock a seed and refine the prompt rather than re-rolling.
- Use
draft: truewhile exploring: a 480p draft bills like a 480p edit, and its id can be re-rendered at 1080p later.
